The Extreme Makeover: Home Edition team has arrived in the Seattle area to change the lives of the
Chapin
family in Kirkland! Led by Doyle Custom Homes and the Building Industry Association of Washington, homebuilders from all over Washington State have volunteered to take on the challenge.
Nearly 100 years old , the family’s existing home was no longer a safe place for Connie to raise her children, Molly, Anna, Rachel, and Daniel. Lead paint, asbestos floor tiles, and rotting floor joists made it a disaster waiting to happen. In addition, Connie’s source of income, the backyard pool where she teaches children to swim and hosts kids’ birthday parties, needed an overhaul to meet the city’s requirements.
In keeping with the Northwest’s leadership in green building, the BIAW-Doyle Custom Homes team has vowed to create a home that is as green as possible. From energy-efficient heating to non-toxic materials to water-saving landscaping, the Chapin's new home will be both ENERGY STAR® certified and built to the National Green Building Standards, helping the family save money and stay healthy for years to come.
